LUSH: Mask of Magnaminty Face and Body Mask.

Mask of Magnaminty.jpg

Okay, okay, I know this isn’t one of LUSH‘s fresh face masks like my other face mask reviews, but I have been desperate to try it for a while after seeing all the hype surrounding it and getting a whiff of it’s minty scent which I love despite it smelling like toothpaste.

Mask of Magnaminty is a face and body mask, although due to laziness I have mostly just been using this on my face. Since it isn’t one of the fresh masks and you can get it in a self-preserving formula it is actually a little cheaper for this product, plus you get a lot more of it in the tub and that’s just for the small size.

This peppermint mask does everything it can to fight eruptions and outbreaks and returns your skin to tip top condition.

Knowing that this mask had peppermint in it made me happy from the beginning because the last face mask I used was Cupcake which aside from containing cocoa butter also has peppermint and spearmint. I really enjoyed this aspect of the mask as it made me and my skin feel so refreshed and clean after using it as mint always makes everything smell and feel very fresh and is awakening. After enjoying that in Cupcake, Mask of Magnaminty definitely didn’t disappoint as it gave me that same feeling to a greater extent since it’s heavier on the peppermint than Cupcake was. As a result, if you enjoy mint you will enjoy this and also Cupcake which you can read more about here.

I will be honest, I was a little unsure of this face mask when I first tried it. I didn’t understand the hype over it because the only difference in my skin was that it was making it softer which didn’t really impress me considering most of the face masks I have been using lately more or less made my skin feel soft.

However, after using it several times I did start to notice a difference, especially when I was suffering with more breakouts on my face. I definitely feel like this mask has been effective with dealing with them as the few I have had, after using the mask my skin looked so much better and the breakouts didn’t last as long as they usually would.

Another thing I liked about this face mask was the texture, and the colour! Sure, it’s not the most pleasant shade of green, but it’s nice enough and it’s different. Face masks are always some neutral kind of colour, they’re not often green, so it makes using it more exciting. The texture of it reminds me a little of Oatifix (reviewed here) so it felt really smooth and was fairly quick and easy to apply as well as being easy to remove, plus it had bits in it which helped exfoliate your face whilst washing off the mask.

Generally, face masks which are good at dealing with breakouts can be a bit drying. I found that it did dry out my breakouts a bit, but it was absolutely fine on the rest of my skin which I was impressed with since it’s only very recently that I’ve finally been able to get rid of the dry patches around my nose and I definitely didn’t want those to be encouraged to come back so soon.

The texture of the face mask combined with the effect it had on my skin makes this mask seem like a mix of Oatifix and Cupcake which also happen to be my favourites of the masks I have tried thus far. However, as similar as Mask of Magnaminty may be, I still prefer the other two. This mask may feature my favourite parts of Oatifix and Cupcake, but it does it to a lesser degree, therefore I’m not so sure it is one I am likely to repurchase.

Have you used Mask of Magnaminty before? How did you get on with it?

Definitely intrigued about trying this one out. The only Lush face mask I’ve tried so far is Cupcake, and while I loved it at first, it ended up giving me a whole load of breakouts that took forever to go away 😦 I know it only affects a few people like that, so I’m just glad it works for everyone else. Looking for a new one to try next time though and I think this might be it 😀

This is one of my favourite face masks, as it just saves my skin when I’m struggling with break outs! I haven’t tried Cupcake yet though so will put that on my wishlist for next time.

Personally, I think Cupcake was my favourite, however I did really like Magnaminty too. Cupcake has an underlying minty scent which is released when you wash it off and similarly, has little bits in it for exfoliating and I think I found it to be more effective on my breakouts, so I definitely recommend it.
