Beach Day Essentials.

Beach Day Essentials.jpg

Over the past few weeks the mornings and evenings have been getting lighter and lighter and the days have been getting longer. This mixed with all the talk of holidays going on around me has made me excited for next season which is why today I am here with more of a summery post (even if there was a little snow in some areas of the UK earlier).

Today I am going to talk you through my Beach Day Essentials. Honestly, I do not go to the beach all that much, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love it when I do go. As a result when Adore Me* told me about this idea for a post I was excited to take part. So, let’s get into my Beach Day Essentials…

Review: Queen Song by Victoria Aveyard.

“There is nothing so terrible as a story untold.” – Victoria Aveyard.

queen songThe other day I bought Cruel Crown which consists of two short stories by Aveyard set in the Red Queen universe. Due to the two stories being very different I decided to write up two separate reviews, rather than squashing them both together. These stories take place before the events of Red Queen although it makes sense to read Red Queen and even Glass Sword first. I read both of these quite recently and have reviews for the first book here and second book here.

The first of these stories is Queen Song which focuses on Cal’s mother, Queen Coriane and it basically tells the story of her life before becoming queen up until and shortly after the birth of Cal.

LUSH: Cupcake Face Mask.

Cupcake Face Mask 2.jpg

“The purpose of a good education is to show you that there are three sides to a two-sided story.” – Stanley Fish.

Another face mask has been finished which means another LUSH review. This is my third of their fresh face masks now which means that I am able to compare it more to other face masks rather than going in blindly. In case you missed my previous face mask reviews I wrote about Oatifix here and Catastrophe Cosmetic here.

I selected Cupcake as my next face mask to try out due to it’s popularity on my twitter poll, the fact one of my best friends love it and it’s alluring chocolate scent.

Review: The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson.

“And even though I know that there’s a ton of stuff ahead I’m so terrified about I can’t breathe sometimes, tonight I can’t help but feel like no matter  how hard it gets, everything might just be OK in the end.” – Lisa Williamson.

the art of being normalWow, I don’t know where to begin with this book. I have wanted to read it for a while, but the thing that finally encouraged me to pick it up was the Girl Gang Book Club as this was the book selected. Although I unfortunately didn’t read it in time for the chat over on twitter, I still tried to take part and over the weekend I finally finished it.

The Art of Being Normal is the story of two teens and it switches from each of their points of view about every other chapter. David is transgender; as depicted by the cover, he is a girl stuck in a boys body. Leo is the new kid in school and he’s trying to keep his distance from everyone, he’s trying to avoid making friends because Leo has his own secret he’s trying to hide…

Beauty and LUSH Haul thumbnail

“Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.” – Anne Frank.

Recently I have been buying quite a few things, so rather than write them all out along with my thoughts on them in an incredibly long post, I decided to throw everything together and make it into a video. This is my first haul video and also my longest ever video, so I hope you all enjoy it:

Rainbow Inspired Nail Art.

“The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain!” – Dolly Parton.

The weather always starts to improve a little in Spring and we get a mix of rainy and sunny days, which leads to rainbows. Over the years I have taken to producing rainbow inspired nails fairly often, some designs you can see in previous posts I have created including Sky Inspired Nail Art and Spot Inspired Nail Art, or you can hop over to my Nail Art Gallery to see everything.
