I’m Home.

“Books are the plane, and the train, and the road. They are the destination, and the journey. They are home.” – Anna Quindlen.

As mentioned in a previous post entitled Holiday, I have been in Rome since Thursday. That is, until this morning. I had a wonderful time in Rome, but it has caused a slight disruption to this blog which I had been trying to avoid.

I arrived home from Rome at four o’clock this morning. I find it difficult to sleep as soon as I get through the door so I unpacked a few things and caught up on EastEnders before my mum woke up at five. We discussed my holiday for a bit, as I will on here in Thursday’s blog post, and I finally went to bed at half past six. Next thing I knew it was exactly four o’clock in the afternoon.

My four days in Rome were extremely busy as my dad and I wanted to see as much as physically possible during that time whilst also having a bit of time to relax, especially considering that the weather was so hot. On our first day the temperature reached thirty seven degrees celsius and throughout our stay it remained in the thirties. As residents of the UK my dad and I were definitely not used to such heat.

The journey to Italy was very fast. The flight was supposed to be two hours and forty five minutes, but we arrived shorty after the two hour mark. I actually spent most of the flight staring out the window – I love flying – and therefore didn’t get much reading accomplished. During the evenings I always read a chapter before bed, but I was so tired that I didn’t read any more than that. Furthermore, the flight home was overnight so I fell asleep a lot. As a result of this, I have not had the opportunity to read a book and therefore do not have a review to post today.

I am sorry for the lack of book review today, I hate it when I am unable to follow my plan. I am currently reading The House of Hades by Rick Riordan so I shall be reviewing this next week. Over my holiday I also made it a third of the way through Life and Laughing: My Story by Michael McIntyre which I hope to finish soon. However, for the time being I am going to focus on Riordan’s The Heroes of Olympus series. I have too many books that I am currently reading, but I hope to be caught up soon.

What are you currently reading?
