Halloween and Giveaway Winner!

I hope everyone is having a wonderfully spooky day. I have spent the whole day tidying and organising whilst watching a lot of Halloween movies. I’ve basically gone through all of the movies from my Favourite Halloween Movies blog post and I literally just finished watching them all and am now moving onto Sweeney Todd. I have never seen this movie before, but with the combination of Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, Alan Rickman, Helen Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen what’s not to love?

Halloween Blog Posts.

I love Halloween, but I cannot promote my Halloween blog posts all year round and there isn’t enough time around Halloween to post all the Halloween blog posts that I want to. As a result of this, I thought it would be nice to share some previous Halloween blog posts I have written which you may have missed.

Also, I would love it if you would leave in the comments links to your favourite Halloween blog posts on your own blog or someone else’s for me to have a little read!

Five Books You Must Read | Collab.

Five Books You Must Read.jpg

“It is with the reading of books the same as with looking at pictures; one must, without doubt, without hesitations, with assurance, admire what is beautiful.” – Vincent van Gogh.

I know normal protocol for a Monday is a book review, but we’re switching things up a little this week. Here on driftinglexi it is Collab Week which means that each week day there will be a new post in which I will have worked with a different blogger. This means that this week I will be introducing you to five amazing bloggers to discuss some of my favourite topics: books, beauty and nails.

I Hate My Face.

“What is that you express in your eyes? It seems to me more than all the print I have read in my life.” – Walt Whitman.

Before I delve into this post properly, I just want to address that this isn’t me being vain and craving compliments. I’m not making this post to tell you all about how I don’t like certain features of my face because they’re too big, or too small etc. I want to talk about expressions, facial expressions.

2016 Goals.

“Aim higher in case you fall short.” – Suzanne Collins.

Last year I feel like I achieved a lot, so this year I have decided to up the bar. I know that blogging isn’t about stats and it doesn’t necessarily represent how good of a blog you may have but it’s nice to have something to aim for and it’s not something I’m going to obsess over either. At the end of the day, I love writing blog posts and I put my all into them and hey, who doesn’t like their writing to be recognised?

Giveaway (Closed) and Two Hundred Followers.

“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson.

That is right. Last night I achieved my aim for the year which was to reach two hundred followers here on my blog. I cannot believe that this has actually happened and a month earlier than I had hoped for. As a result I am doing a giveaway as a way to say a big thank you to all of you for following me and supporting me since April.

Review: Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.

“Nothing is so painful to the human mind as a great and sudden change.” – Mary Shelley.

FrankensteinFor Halloween I decided to pick up Frankenstein for a read. So, I am going to get straight into a review of this book because I don’t feel that a summary of it is entirely necessary. I mean, Frankenstein is a classic.

Right, well, I felt this started off well. I personally love the use of letters in writing, so I found this book rather easy to get into.

Review: Girl Online On Tour by Zoe Sugg.

girl online on tour“We all have one life, and we can choose how we want to live it. It’s important to realise that, no matter what anyone else says or how people may try to influence the way you do things, it’s ultimately down to you.” – Zoe Sugg.

After reading Zoe’s first novel approximately two months ago, Girl Online (reviewed here), I was excited for the release of Girl Online On Tour which follows the story of Penny and Noah, the characters Zoe made us fall in love with in her first book.

Supernatural Convention: Asylum 15.

“Family don’t end with blood, boy.”

At the weekend I attended a Supernatural convention known as Asylum 15 which took place in the UK, more specifically, in Birmingham. The event was run by Rogue Events and I have attended a few of their conventions in the past, so I kind of knew what to expect in advance.

A great deal of people I know have never been to a convention before, so I am going to describe it as best as I can. The people who run the event book guests for the convention and these guests tend to be actors from the show the event is dedicated to. For example, this convention had guests from the TV show Supernatural and the event presented as many opportunities as possible for us to interact with them. This included stage talks (Q&A’s), photos, in-person autograph signings and meet and greets. Of course, all of this comes at a price, so things such as photos, meet and greets and extra autographs come at an additional cost to your ticket.
