Halloween and Giveaway Winner!

I hope everyone is having a wonderfully spooky day. I have spent the whole day tidying and organising whilst watching a lot of Halloween movies. I’ve basically gone through all of the movies from my Favourite Halloween Movies blog post and I literally just finished watching them all and am now moving onto Sweeney Todd. I have never seen this movie before, but with the combination of Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, Alan Rickman, Helen Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen what’s not to love?

Halloween Blog Posts.

I love Halloween, but I cannot promote my Halloween blog posts all year round and there isn’t enough time around Halloween to post all the Halloween blog posts that I want to. As a result of this, I thought it would be nice to share some previous Halloween blog posts I have written which you may have missed.

Also, I would love it if you would leave in the comments links to your favourite Halloween blog posts on your own blog or someone else’s for me to have a little read!

Scheduling, Supernatural and Shows.

I’m still suffering with some reading struggles at the moment, so I don’t have a book review to post today unfortunately. I just don’t feel like I have enough time to read lately and it sucks. Nevertheless, it’s blogtober, so I couldn’t leave you guys without some kind of blog post. As a result, today I am going to do a life and blog update kind of post because I don’t do those particularly often.

Goals for the Remainder of 2016.

As exciting as it is with all the blogtober and Halloween posts floating about at the moment, the end of 2016 is also rapidly approaching. I’m not one to usually make a lot of goals for myself, but I feel like I really need to sort myself out in some ways at the moment. As a result of this, I’ve decided to create a list of things I would like to have achieved, or just simply do by the end of this year…

New Header!

A quick little post for you all today. Basically, I just wanted to announce my brand new header for my blog! It is also visible over on my Twitter and YouTube channel to keep things consistent, plus I absolutely adore it so I want it plastered everywhere.

This header was designed by Jemma from Dorkface and she did such an incredible job. I am so pleased with how it turned out and love that she’s incorporated the three main topics of this blog: beauty, nails and books! I am also so in love with the colouring.

Thank you so much to Jemma and I really hope that all of you like the new header too!

That’s all for today, I hope you are all well.

Behind the Scenes Tag.

I haven’t done a tag for a while and I especially do not do non-bookish tags very often, so when I noticed that the lovely Chanelle tagged me to do the Behind the Scenes tag I thought I would do it. So, here we go..

What camera do you use?

For my photos I use a mixture of my phone, a Samsung Galaxy S5 and my Canon G7X. This is a very popular camera amongst vloggers and it’s perfect for using both blog-wise and YouTube-wise. The camera is great quality, I like the flip-up screen for filming and it is perfect for travelling as this was how I filmed my Disneyland Paris videos.

What editing system do you use?

I love using PicMonkey to edit my photos. Bonus: it’s free.

Do you use artificial or natural lighting?

Natural lighting, though this is always a struggle to deal with in the winter.

What is the top item on your filming wishlist?

As a result of the above I would have to go with some artificial lighting! Or perhaps a tripod as it would make taking photos and filming easier.

What is your favourite day in the week to film/write/photograph?

I don’t necessarily have a favourite day of the week for filming, writing or photographing. Generally, I try to take most of my photos Saturday mornings because I like to do it in bulk and when natural lighting is best, but I don’t allocate writing to specific days. Similarly, filming I do whenever I feel like it.

Do you plan your posts? If so, how?

I am a massive planner. I love organising things, so I greatly enjoy planning my blog posts. For me, the best way to do this is by having a month view of my posts as I have certain types of posts that go up on certain days. For example, my Favourites posts are always the last Friday of the month, my book hauls the last Sunday and nail posts are always on a Wednesday.

Here’s a screenshot of what it looks like:

How long does it take you to write and photograph a post?

This is very dependant on what type of post I am writing. I think the longest post I have ever taken to write is my trip to Rome which took about four hours. However, most posts generally take roughly an hour.

How many hours do you spend editing an average post?

I tend to edit as I go when writing, so when I’ve finished writing I’ll do two or three read-throughs of it to ensure that it’s perfect.

Favourite types of posts to write?

I love writing about holidays and days out. Unfortunately, I don’t have enough of these to write about them frequently on my blog!

Do people at your school or work know about your blog?

Definitely not, I’m not very close with my colleagues haha.

What is your process of thinking of a blog idea?

Blog ideas are mostly drawn from things I’ve recently bought, recently read, or just anything that I am currently loving and want to share.

Do you feel awkward filming in front of other people or in public?

Oh yes, haha. I can barely Snapchat in public!

Do you and your blogging friends plan out posts together?

Every now and then yes. I have some collabs here.

What is your subscriber goal by the end of the year?

I would really love to hit 500 on WordPress before the end of the year, hehe.

So those are all of the questions!

I am not going to tag anyone, but if you fancy doing the tag yourself then feel free to do so and once again, thank you Chanelle for tagging me.

Did You Know…?

I have new and updated pages!

The problem with creating new and updating pages on your blog is that no one is aware of it because they don’t receive any kind of notifications like they do with new posts which appear in your Reader and/or in your inbox. As a result, for today’s post I thought I’d let you know of something new around the blog as well as old things which have been updated.

Daily Blogging in June.

Yes, you have read that title correctly. I am planning on blogging every single day in June. This may be surprising because I have been publishing fewer posts lately and not exactly at my regular pace, but I miss posting so often and I’m starting to feel more inspired again.

Every couple of months now I’m going to have themed weeks on my blog. In April I had a Collab Week and next week I have an exciting Disney Week planned! For those who didn’t read my last update post, I am off to Disneyland Paris next week. Obviously, I can’t take you all with me, so I thought I would share the Disney joy with a week of Disney related blog posts instead.
