Book Fangirling Blog Award.

The wonderful Shivalika from Whimsy Journals kindly nominated me for the Book Fangirling Blog Award. Fellow bookworms, I do insist that you check out her lovely blog linked above, you will not regret it.

The rules:

  • book-fangirling-blog-award11.jpgCreate a post to accept your award.
  • Add the blog award button into your post and put it on the side of your blog as a widget. Visit fangirling for the award button.
  • Answer the questions I have below.
  • Nominate between 5-10 book bloggers who you think also deserve this award.
  • Come up with your own 5 questions for your nominees.

The questions:

Pick one – Harry Potter or Percy Jackson?

I have to go with Harry Potter for this. I’m sorry, but Harry has a huge hold over my heart. I read Percy Jackson only last year so in that time it hasn’t had as big a hold over me and this is helped by the fact that I am currently rereading Harry Potter.

Who’s your favourite Lisa Kleypas and Jane Austen hero/ heroine?

Yikes, I cannot answer this. Honestly, I know I love books and I read a lot, but I haven’t read any of their work (but that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to because I do).

Who’s your book soul mate?

This is a good question, but no one seems to be springing to mind. Recently, I don’t seem to have read many books with very likeable characters, so I only have characters I’m not keen on in my head right now.

Who’s your latest book crush?

As I mentioned before, I am currently rereading Harry Potter, but because I obviously already know the ending, when I read it nowadays I’m not as attached to Cedric Diggory as I once was (though I think I may always have a slight soft spot for him).

Book whose ending you disliked the most?

I’m not sure about the most, but right now Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn comes to mind as I was really put off my the ending after absolutely lovely the rest of the book.

Your questions:

  1. Last book you absolutely loved?
  2. A book you’d like to reread?
  3. A book you want to have read before the end of 2015?
  4. Favourite couple in a book you have read this year?
  5. Is there a particular author whose books you read when you were younger who now reminds you of your childhood, if so, who?

Once again, thank you for this nomination and I look forward to seeing every else’s responses to my questions.

Premio Dardos and the Beauty Blogger Award.

I have had the pleasure and joy of being nominated by Make Up World by Veena for two awards recently. These awards are the Premio Dardos award and the Beauty Blogger award. Thank you so much for not just one, but two awards! I love Veena’s blog and definitely recommend clicking the link above as she writes lots of beauty posts including reviews of products and makeup advice.

The latter award is rather self-explanatory, but I had no idea what the former one was, so I did a little research to include so that none of you are confused either:

Premio Dardos is Spanish and translates to “prize darts”. This award is given “in recognition of cultural, ethical, literary, and personal values transmitted in the form of creative and original writing”.

The rules for this award are simple:

  1. Thank the giver and link their blog to your post.
  2. Pass the award on to other bloggers of your choice and let them know that they have been nominated.

The rules for the Beauty Blogger award:

  1. State the name of the blogger that nominated you.
  2. Answer the questions you were given.
  3. Nominate 10 people whose blog is about beauty or fashion.
  4. Make 10 questions for your nominees to answer.
  5. Let the bloggers know that you nominated them.

The questions:

  1. Best thing about blogging.

One of the many things I love about blogging is its ability to connect me with so many different people with similar interests and experiences to myself.

2. Why did you start blogging?

I originally started blogging as a way to talk about, well, anything and use it as a way to express my opinion. Since then my reason has changed a bit by becoming more specific as now I blog in order to share things with you guys including books and my thoughts on them and products I enjoy using.

3. You favourite post?

This is a tricky one, but one of my favourites would have to be my post on the Harry Potter Studio Tour because I loved writing it and being able to relive my experience.

4. Do you take photographs for your blog yourself? If not ,then who does that?

I always try and take as many photos as I can for this blog; however, that can be easier said than done for some posts e.g. wishlist posts. As a result, if I can’t take a photo myself, I will use one from the brand’s website and there will be a link to that site in the post.

5. How many social media platforms you have.

I think I have everything, to be honest. However, some are more private and personal than others and for that reason I don’t share them all on my blog.

6. How many times a week do you blog?

I always try and blog at least five times a week, though this mostly varies from four to six.

7. Your favourite beauty product?

Bourjois Paris Stylo Eye Liner Pencil. This is a recent find, but as someone who loves their eyeliner, this is a new favourite and if I could only wear one item of makeup it would probably be this one.

8. Nude or bright lips?

Bright lips! I love lipsticks, especially bright and bold ones!

9. Best compliment you received ever since you started blogging?

I’m not sure to be honest, I don’t tend to do beauty posts that often outside of my favourites posts, though I have had compliments on my book reviews.

10. What is the biggest challenge you are facing in the world of blog?

Possibly deciding what to blog about. Some days this is easy, but I struggle sometimes to think of themes for my nail art posts and to remember products I can use in some of my favourites posts.

The nominees:

Your questions:

  1. Do you prefer to make your eyes or your lips stand out?
  2. What is your favourite item of clothing?
  3. How did you get into blogging about fashion/beauty?
  4. Which is your favourite eyeshadow product out of those you own?
  5. What was your first fashion/beauty blog post about?
  6. How long have you been blogging?
  7. Name one beauty product on your wishlist.
  8. What is your favourite shade of lipstick?
  9. What is one of your favourite things about blogging?
  10. What is one of your least favourite things about blogging?

Thank you again Veena for these nominations and I look forward to seeing the responses to the questions above from those I have nominated.

The Infinity Award.

I have been nominated for the Infinity Award by the wonderful Miss Ky, follow the link for her responses to these questions. Thank you so much for this award!

The questions:

Who is your best blogging friend?

I’m not sure, I don’t really have one… Perhaps I need to communicate more with people on here.

the night circusWhat is the best book cover you’ve ever seen?

Wow, this is a tricky one! I adore the covers of Giovanna Fletcher’s books, all of them, because of how the gorgeous colours blend together beautifully in the background. However, for this question I am going to use The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern because I love the use of black, white and red as well as the font and the images. I personally am not a fan of books which have real photos of people on the cover, but I love the use of silhouettes.

What’s your favourite slang word?

I really don’t like slang, if I ever use it, it’s likely to be with sarcasm.

If you could have any animal as a pet, what would it be?

I love puppies so much, they are just incredibly adorably. However, the fantasy lover in me also thinks it would be pretty cool to have a dragon as a pet. Also, tiger cubs are so cute!

Favourite flower?

A classic rose. It’s your typical favourite flower, but it’s also the only one I can actually draw.

Scariest roller coaster/ride you’ve ever been on?

Colossus at Thorpe Park. I enjoyed this ride right up until those corkscrews and to make it even worse there were four of them.

Favourite Disney movie?

As with many people, I am a Disney lover therefore making this extremely difficult. There is also the fact that there are many Disney movies which I haven’t seen since I was younger, so I have forgotten they exist or what some movies are actually about. Also, because there are so many of the movies, including Pirates of the Caribbean, I am only going to take into account classic childhood Disney films, the animated ones. Out of these, my favourite is probably either Aladdin or Beauty and the Beast.

Book you want made into a movie?

I’m not sure, I think books often tend to make better TV shows. However, if you had to make a book into a movie, I think a stand alone book of some sort would be best.

RingFavourite piece of jewellery?

My diamond and ruby gold ring.

This ring is my favourite because it has meaning behind it. I received this ring after my granddad died, so it’s a reminder of him. Tragically, however, I have lost this ring. I know it must be in my room, but I don’t know where. I will find it.

Savoury or Sweet snacks? Which ones?

I love a mixture of both, it depends on my mood.

All time favourite movie?

Yikes, this is a toughy. I am going to say The Perks of Being a Wallflower just because it is probably the film I have seen the most alongside Mean Girls and Mamma Mia.

The bloggers:

I am not sure if this award requires a certain amount of people to be nominated, but I will nominate a few. Similar to Miss Ky, I am going to keep the questions the same because I quite like them.

Thank you again for the nomination, Miss Ky.

Beautiful Blogger Award.

beautiful-blogger-awardA little while ago I was nominated for the Beautiful Blogger Award by the lovely Emily from Tumbling into Wonderland. Thank you so much for the award, everyone should definitely check out her blog, especially if you are interested in books.

The Beautiful Blogger Award is for those blogs that are creative, original and add to the blogging community. Here are the rules:

  • Link to the creative, beautiful genius that bestowed it upon you.
  • List seven random things about yourself.
  • Send said award to seven (or how ever many you want) other creative, beautiful geniuses.
  • Tell those lucky people that you’ve done this and give ’em the rules.

The facts:

  1. I always used to turn my nose up at audiobooks, but recently I’ve begun to see how great and useful they are. It’s especially great because it means that I can listen to a book while I’m eating breakfast or styling my hair etc. in the mornings.
  2. I easily get obsessed with things. Over the years I have had addictions to buying books, scarves, nail polish, lipstick and eyeshadow palettes. Many would argue that I still have many of these addictions.
  3. Organising the above is so satisfying for me because there is so much of it all. As a matter of fact, I just love organising; I already have over half of the posts I want to write in September titled and ready to write whenever I get the opportunity to do so.
  4. My current TBR pile on my bedside table consists of fifteen books (I really need to stop popping into Waterstones for a while).
  5. Whenever people ask me questions about anything I like to give details, so when I ask questions I like having the same detail returned. For example, I asked my friend where she went for dinner and she simply said “a restaurant”…
  6. I am actually terrible at showing emotion to people unless I have a long and close relationship with them, and even then I can struggle. I’m also really bad at showing people that I’m interested because despite being a good listener, I often gaze into space during conversations, but I am listening.
  7. When I get drunk with my best friend we like to exercise, by which I mean do yoga and pilates. Does anyone else get like this?

The bloggers:

Thank you again, Emily for this nomination.

Blogger Recognition Award.

The rules:

  • Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to.
  • Write a post to show off your award. Give a brief story of how your blog got started, and give a piece or two of advice to new bloggers. Thank whoever nominated you, and provide a link to their blog. List who you’ve nominated in the post. Make sure to also attach the award itself! (You can do this by right-clicking, saving, and uploading the image above.)
  • Comment on each blog and let them know you’ve nominated them.
  • Provide a link to the original post on Edge of Night. That way, anyone can find the original guidelines and post if needed, and we can keep it from mutating and becoming confusing!

The nominees:

How my blog started:

I first started my blog because I enjoyed writing, but I was no good at fiction, so I wanted somewhere that I could write about whatever I wanted and whatever was going on in my life at that moment. However, my blog didn’t last long like this and it went dormant for a while. A few months ago I revisited my blog and made some big changes. After having written book reviews on Goodreads, I realised that I liked it and decided that I would share them on my blog and since then my blog has grown into what it is today.

As I mentioned before, my first attempt at blogging did not go well and did not last long at all. Part of this is because I never knew what to blog about and I wanted to be able to post weekly, so I gave up because I had nothing to discuss. As a result of this, my first piece of advice is to blog about what you’re interested in. Are you interested in books? There are endless books out there and you don’t just have to write reviews. Are you interested in beauty? There are so many makeup products out there which you can do just about anything with. Are you interested in cooking? There are millions of recipes, or chuck some ingredients in a pot and let it simmer, then let us know your conclusions. Write about whatever you please and whatever makes you happy. If you aren’t interested in what you’re writing about, it will be hard to keep not only your readers interested, but yourself too.

My second piece of advise is to plan. I personally found writing a plan extremely helpful. I also have a notepad full of ideas to write weekly. For example, topics for my Friday Favourites and within that different products and nail art themes and different tag posts I want to write etc. Being organised has ensured that I always have something to write about that I want to write about and at the same time inspires me to think of more ideas.

A final thank you goes out to Every Word You Say for this award, I really appreciate it. If you haven’t seen her blog yet there is a link at the top and the posts are well worth a read.

I hope everyone enjoyed this post and finds the advice helpful.

– Lauren

Sunshine Blogger Award.

Last week I was nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award by Every Word You Say. Unfortunately, it has taken me a little while to get around to doing this since I have been in Rome, but I’m here now.

Thank you so much to Every Word You Say. Everyone please check out her blog, her posts are truly worth a read.

UPDATE: I have also been nominated for this award by the lovely Miss Ky. Thank you so much for this nomination and similar to Every Word You Say, I recommend having a look at Miss Ky’s blog.

The rules:

  • Thank the people/person who nominated you.
  • Answer the questions from your nominators.
  • Nominate eleven other bloggers and give them eleven questions.

The questions from Every Word You Say:

1. If you could live your life again, would you change anything?

If you had asked me this two years ago I would have responded saying that I wish I had chosen different courses to take during my first year of college because I absolutely hated it. However, this year I realised that I do not regret it because one of my best friends now I met through one of those courses as well as other people I became really great friends with, even if it was only for the duration of college. Now, when I look back, I may see that I have gone through bad times, but I feel like I came out a better person because of it and while I still struggle in some aspects, I find that it makes me so much more appreciative and grateful for all of the goods things in life.

Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.” – Kahlil Gibran

2. What’s your biggest achievement?

I am not entirely sure. Academically, it would be an A* in a biology GCSE exam, especially since in school I was a B average student. I find that achievements are difficult to classify as big or small sometimes because they can be so diverse though when I think achievement, my first thought just jumps to educational achievement, hence that’s my first answer.

I also feel like I have achieved a lot socially. Right now I have three incredible best friends as well as other friends who I love and am so grateful for. However, it wasn’t always like this. When I was sixteen, my best friend of twelve years and I fell out and to an extent it was for the better as I always felt like she was judging me for everything I did and it made me feel like I was a bit of an outsider and a freak. I felt like I couldn’t truly be myself. Less than a month later I started college and I had been given the push I needed to get certain people out of my life. That September I was in a friendship group where I felt invisible. Barely anyone seemed to talk to me and when I tried to contribute to conversations, because the group was so big, my shy, quiet voice, couldn’t be heard which only made me feel worse. As a result, by October I was a part of a completely new friendship group and while I didn’t enjoy my courses fully, I did enjoy my free periods with my friends who I had things in common with. This was a big achievement for me because I had never been apart of a friendship group before where I fully felt included and wanted and before I attended college I would never have had the courage to seek one out as I have always been one to stay in my comfort zone, sticking to what I’m familiar with and used to.

3. What’s your biggest fear?

This is a difficult one because, honestly, I am afraid of a lot of things. I am terrified of almost anything with a mind of its own, but especially spiders and wasps. I suppose I’m not exactly terrified of people, but I am very paranoid and cautious. The weekend before last I had to get a taxi from my friends house to my own by myself, it was only a five to ten minute drive, but I was very on edge. I was gripping my phone as if my life depended on it, almost aggressively texting my friend so that I didn’t feel alone. Fortunately, she was a fast replier. I even jumped out of the taxi at the earliest possible moment, even though it meant walking an extra ten minutes when my feet were very sore and even then I was on the phone to my best friend.

4. When was your last “first time”? (As in when was the last time you tried something new?)

Well, last week was my first time to Italy! And it was my first holiday just me and my dad as in the past I had only ever been away with my mum, dad and brother.

5. If your life was a movie/book, what would the title be?

To be honest, I would probably call it drifting lexi and it would most likely be a book.

6. Do you have a secret talent?

No, I don’t think so. Some people would say my nail art, but I don’t know. I’ll let you be the judge of that.

7. If you could know one fact/statistic about everyone you met, what would that fact/statistic be?

I would probably want to know what their favourite TV show or book was. Whenever I meet people I always worry about it being awkward and having nothing to say. This means that if I knew what they liked we could hopefully discuss it.

8. What’s your favourite movie?

Yikes! This is a tricky one. Do I go Disney? Musical? Harry Potter? The possibilities are endless! I am going to go for The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I have watched this movie probably more times than any other movie. When I first bought it I watched it about four times in the first week. It is also the only one of two movies that has ever actually made me cry (the other being Moulin Rouge). Furthermore, this movie has some of my favourite actors: Emma Watson, Logan Lerman and Nina Dobrev. Also, I must mention that I also loved the book.

9. What’s your favourite piece of clothing you own?

Without a doubt, my favourite piece of clothing is my blue checked shirt. I just love this shirt so much. I was hoping to post a photo of it, but it is in the wash (it’s always in the wash as I wear it as much as possible).

10. If you could have a fictional character as a friend, who would you have?

As a proud Ravenclaw, part of me wants to say Luna Lovegood, and while I agree we would make good friends, I don’t think we’d click as much as with other characters, such as Hermione who is a good friend and loves books. However, I also think that Fred and George Weasley would make spectacular friends because you would always be in fits of laughter, there would never be a dull moment around those two, plus they’re brave and loyal.

11. What was the last dream (or nightmare) you had about?

Be prepared, this is going to be a little long…

I rarely remember my dreams, but the last one I remember having is from two weeks ago. This dream was very strange, I went to my grandparents house (which didn’t look like my grandparents house at all) with my family and my best friend (this best friend often flickered from my two best friends Megan and Sophie).

We all went for a walk along a path somewhere surrounded by trees. My parents had gone ahead (for some reason they were still together) and my brother, my best friend in Sophie form and I encountered a wolf with a black and sparkly coat of fur. My brother and Sophie turned around to leave and I stroked the wolf and a round pearl/diamond-like stone fell into my hand. I told the wolf to leave, he did, and I pocketed the stone. We then arrived back at the house and like a horror movie there was something banging on the doors and Sophie and I were really scared and some dark ghostlike figures surrounded us. I put my hand into my pocket and grasped the stone wishing for help and the wolf from before crashed through the window (on the second floor) and scared the ghosts away.

Next thing I know my best friend, Megan, and I are walking into a shop with black walls covered in art. It was a tattoo parlour, but there were also bits of jewellery on stands and I was admiring the rings. Megan wandered ahead of me and I was thinking of getting a tattoo. I went to go and catch up with her and she had just had one on her foot and the guy who did it took a photo of it, then, for some bizarre reason, he asked me if he could take photos of my feet. Still in the tattoo parlour, the image jumped to the front of the shop where everyone who worked there as well as Megan, myself and other customers (one of which was a childhood friend I used to live by) were around the till. All of us customers were in a queue which we all kept rejoining as at the till, the tattoo artists were giving out Indian food. I am not entirely sure what happened after I finished a naan bread dipped in curry sauce, but I remember that there had been another appearance from the wolf and then I woke up oddly feeling full as if I had just eaten a curry in real life.

If anyone has any idea as to what that dream could possibly mean I would be very interested to know as it was so freaky.

Now, let’s move away from the weirdness so that I can Miss Ky’s questions and then reveal the bloggers I nominate for the award.

The questions from Miss Ky:

What is your favourite movie?

I don’t exactly have a favourite movie, but the one I have watched the most is The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I was absolutely obsessed with it when it was first released.

Which one: Tent or Camper?

Honestly, neither. I much prefer the indoors, by which I mean the comfort of my bedroom.

Most embarrassing moment?

My gosh, I’ve been embarrassed so many times, but I cannot recall the worst time. I never fail to get embarrassed if I have to speak during class, but that’s definitely not the worst I’ve had it. Perhaps the experience was so traumatic that I’ve erased it from my mind.

What would you tell younger self?

I would tell my younger self never to be afraid to tell my mum how I feel and what I think. If I had been honest from the start, I feel like I could have avoided a lot of pain and anger over the past four years.

What are your future plans?

This question could not be asked at a better time because last night my mum and I sat down and tried to sort some things out. At this moment, my future plans involve taking a nail course so that hopefully in a few months I’ll be qualified to do people’s nails and perhaps work in a salon. Then I would like to do some travelling and depending on how my career in nails goes, I may take a course to do with psychology/counselling.

Favourite place to go?

A book shop, perhaps? Somewhere Harry Potter related?

Favourite person in the world?

My mum. I don’t think this needs any kind of justification.

Would you rather: have no internet or no cell phone?

No phone. Messaging works just as well as texting! Plus you can make calls through Skype and Facebook by using a tablet.

If you could do anything right now what would it be?

Hop on a plane and go travelling; I’d probably start in Paris.

What is your ideal date night?

Pizza is the way to my heart, so a lovely dinner at an Italian restaurant would be perfect.

What is some advice you would give to a little kid who looks up to you?

This is difficult because I don’t really know many people more than two years younger than me, except for a five month year old baby. That and the fact that I am an extremely pessimistic person, so I would probably have to steal some advice from someone else.

The Liebster Award.

Thank you very much Pajamareader for nominating me for this award. I have attached a link so, everyone, make sure you check Valerie’s blog out.

liebster awardThe rules:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you.
  • Display the award on your blog.
  • Answer all the questions given to you by your nomination.
  • Nominate 11 other bloggers who have less than 200 followers.
  • Create 11 questions for your nominees to answer.

My questions:

1. What is your dream job?

My dream job is to be an author. I love writing, but I never have anything to write about. What I enjoy about blogging is that I can write posts on particular themes such as beauty, nails and, of course, books. As of yet, I still haven’t been inspired by an idea for a potential book or anything so this job remains a dream. I do also have a second dream connected to my interest in psychology and that is to be a counsellor or something in that area.

2. If you had to eat one thing for the rest of your life what would you choose?

Pizza. I love pizza so much.

3. What is your favourite song? Why?

I don’t exactly have a favourite song, but I do have a big love for Mr Brightside by The Killers. I love how this song unites people and it just makes me so happy when I hear it, especially when I’m surrounded by my best friends and we’re screaming the lyrics. I also have many great memories associated with this song and it always makes my night.

4. How many blankets do you sleep with?

None I suppose, unless a duvet counts? I only sleep with my duvet. If it is really cold I may have one extra blanket, but I haven’t used that in years.

5. What’s your favourite hot drink?

Here is where you find out that I don’t fit the typical stereotype attached to British bookworms. I hate hot drinks and yes, that includes tea. Hot drinks make me and my stomach feel weird and I don’t like it so I stick to cold drinks.

6. What are your favourite kind of books (fantasy, contemporary, dystopian, etc.)?

I love a mixture of everything, but I do love young adult books and fantasy possibly the most. At least, that’s what I mostly tend to read.

7. Where’s your favourite reading spot?

My bed! When I first moved into my house two and a half years ago I did intend to create a reading spot in my [walk-in] wardrobe. I set up blankets and toys and made it cosy, but  just always ended up on my bed.

8. What is your favourite book quote?

This is possibly the toughest question I could be asked. I love quotes and as you can gather from my book reviews, I collect them when reading a book. To pick a favourite would be like picking a favourite child. As a result of this I am going to use a quote I enjoyed from a book which I am currently reading:

“Life is only precious because it ends, kid.” – Mars from The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan.

9. Who is an inspiration to you?

Usually, I respond to these questions saying that my mum is my inspiration. However, this time I am going to say that my best friend is someone who inspires me. We have been best friends for just over four years now and throughout that time she has had to deal with so much from physical pain to parents splitting up to mental illness. She is also the most selfless person I know, even though she doesn’t always realise it. She is friendly and kind and caring, she is funny and sarcastic. My best friend inspires me to be strong and brave in difficult times. She inspires me to be selfless and a good person as she demonstrates how no matter what hand you’ve been dealt in life, you can always behave like a decent human being towards others.

10. What is your favourite season? Why?

I almost made the mistake of saying “of what?” as in “of what TV show?”. Any way, my favourite season is autumn, especially early autumn where it’s still a little warm from summer. I love the colours associated with this time of year and the trees and the crunch of the leaves beneath your feet when you go for a walk. Also, it is the season of Halloween!

11. Do you like Carmex or Burtes bees chap stick?and if not what is it?

I have never tried either, but I am currently using Babylips by Maybelline and I love it. You can get different variations of it with different tints and scents. The cherry and orange ones are possibly my favourites out of those I’ve tried.

The bloggers:

(I’m sorry, all the other people I follow have over 200 followers so I have to stop at nine.)

Your questions:

1. What was the last movie you watched? Did you like it?

2. What is your favourite pudding?

Dragon’s Loyalty Award.

First of all, a big thank you goes to Every Word You Say for this nomination. I particularly love the name of this award, haha. I’ve attached a link to the name of this blog so definitely check it out. Also, happy birthday, Every Word You Say, I hope you have a lovely day.dragon's loyalty award

Now, onto the rules:

  • Put the award logo in your post.
  • Thank the person who nominated you and put a link to their blog. (Thank you again, Every Word You Say!)
  • Nominate 15 other bloggers.
  • Post seven facts about you.

The bloggers:

The facts:

1. 2009 was when I really got into TV shows and the first show I ever obsessed over which led to my obsession with other TV shows was The Vampire Diaries. Over the years this obsession has died down and while it is not my favourite show any more, I still can’t help but love it and it can still make me emotional.

2. I didn’t read all the Harry Potter books until after all of the films had come out. The first time I heard of the series was when the first film came out and at that age I was only four or five. The only thing I knew about this series was that my brother loved them; I think it’s the only book series he has fully read. I remember when the third film came out and I went to see it at least three times at the cinema, but still, I hadn’t opened a single Harry Potter book. After this I decided to read the fourth book in preparation for the next movie, but I didn’t like beginning a book which was in the middle of the series so I soon gave up. I then decided to wait until the movies were over to read all of the books and I’m glad I did as it made me love the series so much more.

3. I am very sentimental. I still have cinema tickets dating back to 2009. I keep all of my concert tickets. I keep lovely cards. I remember perfect days. Every year I celebrate with each of my two best friends the anniversary of the day we met and became friends, we call it our friend-iversary.

4. I love socks. Lots of people hate socks, but I love them. They are so comfy and cosy and warm. Your head and your feet are apparently where you lose the most heat too, so socks are important, haha. As a result of this, when it does get really hot and I have to pull out the flips flops and sandals, everyone is always surprised that I have my feet on show. I have nothing against feet, even my own, I just love the comfort of socks and the extra layer of protection it gives my feet from anything that might be on the floor…

5. I watch so many TV shows yet I barely know what is actually going on. This is because I tend to multi-task. For example, while I’m writing this blog post I am watching Hannibal, but I couldn’t actually tell you what is happening in the episode because I’m too busy focusing on this post.

6. I have a bad tendency to start reading books before finishing the previous book I’m reading. I am currently reading three books: The Silmarillion by J. R. R. Tolkien (started in March), John Dies at the End by David Wong (started almost two weeks ago) and The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan (started Monday).

7. I am very paranoid when spiders are concerned. When I walk into my room, especially before going to bed, I have to do a search. I also have to do a quick scan in any bathroom I go in and even then sometimes I can’t relax. I know a lot of people are scared of spiders, but lately I feel like this fear is growing as they’ve also been appearing in my dreams which have been horrible.  I feel like this is a bad fact to end this on, but I couldn’t think of anything else.

A final thank you for this nomination and I hope you all enjoyed learning a few new things about me. I look forward to reading everyone else’s facts.

Very Inspiring Blogger Award.

I have been nominated for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award by Every Word You Say (I definitely recommend clicking on the link attached to her name to go to her blog). Thank you so much for this nomination, I feel, honoured, I suppose. I cannot believe that you thought of me and I am so grateful. In all honesty, if you hadn’t nominated me, I would have somehow found a way to nominate you for this award as you have been so encouraging in the comments of my posts and I love your blog.

Now, the rules:very-inspiring-blogger-award

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Add the logo to your post.
  • Nominate 10 other bloggers you think are inspiring.
  • Answer the questions given to you.
  • Give five new questions for your nominees to answer.

The bloggers:

The questions:

1. How are you feeling right now?

I am feeling very happy because I have been nominated for this award. Furthermore, in ten minutes my dad is picking me up to take me out for breakfast and to a wildlife park so I am excited, although I really need to go and get dressed!

2. What is your earliest memory?

I have a few memories and I’m not entirely sure which came first. Firstly, I remember playing dominoes with my great grandad. Secondly, I remember my dad and I playing at the park outside of my old house. And thirdly, I remember feeding my old dog Custard Creams in the garden.

3. Describe yourself using one word. Why did you choose that word?

Loyal. One thing I am really proud of myself for is my loyalty. I am a loyal friend, a loyal daughter etc. People in my life have not exactly always been the very best to me, but I still always stick by them because in more cases than not, they are still family. In addition to this, I have only ever fallen out with a friend once in my whole life. My current best friend is still amazed that we’ve never had an argument over anything e.g. guys, but I know that we’re loyal to each other and love each other so I’m really not surprised.

4. Who was the last person you spoke to, and what were you talking about?

Me and my friend Hannah were texting as we are arranging to meet up next week though we haven’t got any details confirmed yet, haha.

5. Why did you start a blog?

I wanted to be able to share my thoughts and feelings on different matters originally and I thought it would be a nice hobby. I later discovered how much I love nail art and that I would like to focus on both that and the books I read as I am a massive book reader.

Your questions:

1. Who is your biggest role model?
2. Where do you mostly get inspiration for your blog from?
3. What is your favourite song?
4. What is your favourite colour?
5. Who was the last person you hugged?

Thank you again Every Word You Say for this nomination. Everyone, please remember to check out her blog, the link is at the top of this post.
