Behind the Scenes Tag.

I haven’t done a tag for a while and I especially do not do non-bookish tags very often, so when I noticed that the lovely Chanelle tagged me to do the Behind the Scenes tag I thought I would do it. So, here we go..

What camera do you use?

For my photos I use a mixture of my phone, a Samsung Galaxy S5 and my Canon G7X. This is a very popular camera amongst vloggers and it’s perfect for using both blog-wise and YouTube-wise. The camera is great quality, I like the flip-up screen for filming and it is perfect for travelling as this was how I filmed my Disneyland Paris videos.

What editing system do you use?

I love using PicMonkey to edit my photos. Bonus: it’s free.

Do you use artificial or natural lighting?

Natural lighting, though this is always a struggle to deal with in the winter.

What is the top item on your filming wishlist?

As a result of the above I would have to go with some artificial lighting! Or perhaps a tripod as it would make taking photos and filming easier.

What is your favourite day in the week to film/write/photograph?

I don’t necessarily have a favourite day of the week for filming, writing or photographing. Generally, I try to take most of my photos Saturday mornings because I like to do it in bulk and when natural lighting is best, but I don’t allocate writing to specific days. Similarly, filming I do whenever I feel like it.

Do you plan your posts? If so, how?

I am a massive planner. I love organising things, so I greatly enjoy planning my blog posts. For me, the best way to do this is by having a month view of my posts as I have certain types of posts that go up on certain days. For example, my Favourites posts are always the last Friday of the month, my book hauls the last Sunday and nail posts are always on a Wednesday.

Here’s a screenshot of what it looks like:

Screenshot 2016-08-09 16.37.20.png

How long does it take you to write and photograph a post?

This is very dependant on what type of post I am writing. I think the longest post I have ever taken to write is my trip to Rome which took about four hours. However, most posts generally take roughly an hour.

How many hours do you spend editing an average post?

I tend to edit as I go when writing, so when I’ve finished writing I’ll do two or three read-throughs of it to ensure that it’s perfect.

Favourite types of posts to write?

I love writing about holidays and days out. Unfortunately, I don’t have enough of these to write about them frequently on my blog!

Do people at your school or work know about your blog?

Definitely not, I’m not very close with my colleagues haha.

What is your process of thinking of a blog idea?

Blog ideas are mostly drawn from things I’ve recently bought, recently read, or just anything that I am currently loving and want to share.

Do you feel awkward filming in front of other people or in public?

Oh yes, haha. I can barely Snapchat in public!

Do you and your blogging friends plan out posts together?

Every now and then yes. I have some collabs here.

What is your subscriber goal by the end of the year?

I would really love to hit 500 on WordPress before the end of the year, hehe.

So those are all of the questions!

I am not going to tag anyone, but if you fancy doing the tag yourself then feel free to do so and once again, thank you Chanelle for tagging me.

My Bucket List | Tag.

The lovely Juliet has tagged me to do this Bucket List tag and considering how much I love my lists, I couldn’t resist. Also, it’s been a while since I’ve even thought about my bucket list, so this was a good reminder. So, thank you Juliet for tagging me and you can check out Juliet’s blog and her bucket list here.

The Harry Potter Book Tag.

When I was first tagged to do this I mistakenly thought that I had already done this. It appears that I was wrong because I have previously done The Harry Potter Tag which is very different.

I was tagged to do this by two people: Not Capulet and Captivated By Fantasy. Thank you to the both of you for tagging me!

NirvanaFlagrate: A book that you found interesting that you would like to rewrite.

Not off to the best start, are we? This is a tricky one.

Nirvana by J. R. Stewart.

I’ve decided to go for this one because I remember reading and reviewing this book last year and I wasn’t really keen on the direction the story took. For that reason I think it is something I would want to rewrite as I did like the concept of the book.

You can read my review on this book here.

Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar ChildrenAlohomora: The first book in a series which got you hooked.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs.

I have gone for a recent read for this question as I only just finished this book series yesterday, so it’s still very much in my head.

I absolutely love this book, the whole series even and each time I finished a book I was left itching for more and made immediate plans to get my hands on the next in the series.

Since this is quite a recent read I do have a review up for this book and you can find that here.

Accio: A book you wish you could have right now.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: Illustrated Edition by J. K Rowling and illustrated by Jim Kay.

When the first illustrated book came out last year I instantly had to buy it and I fell in love with it, so it’s no wonder that I am really eager to see the next one. Besides, it feels appropriate to use this book for the tag and it’s always extremely difficult for me to do any kind of book tag and not include Harry Potter.

dark placesAvada Kedavra: A killer book.

Dark Places by Gillian Flynn.

I find it funny that both of the people who tagged me to do this chose a book by Gillian Flynn.

What’s even funnier is that Gillian Flynn sprung to my mind too and Dark Places is my choice, which again is funny because each of the people who tagged me chose different books. In fairness though, any book by Flynn would be a good response.

I am actually a big fan of Flynn’s work and I have reviews of almost all of her novels and her novella here, including Dark Places.

john dies at the endConfundo: A book you find confusing.

John Dies at the End by David Wong.

I just don’t get it.

I still don’t get it.

I really cannot bring myself to think of this book any more, it was the weirdest and most random book I ever read, but if you are interested I will link my review.

Review here.

perksExpecto Patronum: Your spirit animal book.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.

You’ve all seen me write about this book so many times that it probably isn’t shocking and an explanation is not really needed.

I want to write a proper review of this book as some point, just so I have one, but at the same time it feels unnecessary considering the countless tags this book has been mentioned in.

Gone GirlSectumsempra: A dark, twisted book.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.

Both the people who tagged me mentioned the same book, so I feel a bit out of the loop having not yet read it (seriously, I will read it, it’s currently on my bedside table just waiting for me to get around to it).

So, can I use Gillian Flynn again? I’m going to use Gillian Flynn again.

Dark? Twisted? Well, have you met Amazing Amy?!

the sistersApparecium: A book that surprised you in a great way.

The Sisters by Claire Douglas.

Nothing can surprise quite like a thriller!

This book didn’t surprise me because I enjoyed it, but because of the twists and turns along the way which despite being dark (also making this book appropriate for the previous question) was thoroughly enjoyable.

I do have a review up on this book which you can read here.

Thank you again Juliet and Shannon for tagging me!

I am going to tag:

If you do this tag let me know, I’d love to see your answers!

The Lip Product Tag.

A few weeks ago now I was tagged by the lovely Samantha at Blended to Perfection to do the Lip Product Tag. As you are all probably well aware by now, I love lipsticks and my collection is ever-growing, so I was very happy to have been tagged to do this.

What is your favourite lip balm or treatment?

For someone who cannot leave the house without lipstick, I am terrible at looking after my lips. I haven’t tried that many lip balms, but I do quite like the Maybelline Baby Lips lip balms. I have found that some shades/flavours are more effective that others and it is probably not the best product at treating dry lips, though my favourite is Cherry. However, Clarins do have some lovely moisturising lip products, I especially love their Rouge Eclat lipstick.

What is your favourite eye-catching red?

If we’re talking bright red there can be no other than MAC Russian Red. It’s a gorgeous matte red with a blue undertone and I love it so much. However, if you are looking for a new red, I advise you to check out my post on my favourite red lipsticks which also contains swatches!

Best luxury and drugstore product? Also, best MAC lipstick?

I do not have that many high end lipsticks. In fact, I think my only ones are by Elizabeth Arden and Clarins. Out of these it’s a tricky choice, but I think the best is the Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Moisturising Lipstick and the shade I own is Scarlet.

For drugstore lip product, I personally think the best ones are the Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks from both the Lasting Finish and Matte collection. They are long lasting, beautiful in colour, have a nice scent and don’t dry out my lips.

I only own matte MAC lipsticks. In total I think I have four and I love them all. Because I have already mentioned Russian Red in this tag, I won’t pick that one. I think I will go for Velvet Teddy, a gorgeous nude which basically suits anybody and is perfect for all occasions and all year round.

Most disappointing lip product?

No7 High Shine Lip Crayon. It was really sheer and I found it to be rather drying on my lips, so it was really disappointing, especially after having liked previous No7 lip products I had tried.

Lip liner: yes or no?

Not really, I’m afraid. I know that I probably should sometimes, but I’ve gotten used to applying lipstick without lip liner, so I always forget.

Favourite lipgloss?

I am not a big lipgloss lover. It tends to be really sticky and there is always a 99% chance that my hair will get stuck in it at some point during the day if I’m wearing it. As a result of this, I do not own and haven’t tried many, so I can literally only talk about one lipgloss here and it is by Tanya Burr Cosmetics.

Thank you again Samantha for tagging me, I encourage you all to check out her lovely blog and now it’s my turn to tag a few people:

The BFF Book Tag.

I have been tagged to do the BFF Book Tag by Booksandbakes1 and you should all definitely go and check out Charley’s blog. Also, this tag was created by CK’s Reading Corner.

dream a little dreamSetting the Example – a pair/group of book bff’s that you love:

Sarah and Carly from Dream a Little Dream by Giovanna Fletcher.

I loved this book and actually wrote a review on it here.

I also really enjoyed how, since the book focused on Sarah’s life, at the end there was short story centred more on Carly, although we did see a lot of Carly throughout the book too since she is one of Sarah’s best friends.

hpatpsChildhood Bestie – which book character would you like to have grown up with?

Hermione Granger from  Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling.

Hermione just seems like someone I would get along with really well. As much as I love Ginny and Luna from the series, I don’t think I’d have as much to talk to them about and while I also love Fred and George, I reckon I would quickly tire of their pranks since I am quite a serious person myself. Meanwhile, Hermione and I already have at least one thing in common: a love of books and reading.

I do have reviews of all the Harry Potter books which you can read here if you’re interested.

DIVERGENT_B_Format_UK.inddFrenemy – which book character would bring out your competitive side?

Peter from Divergent by Veronica Roth.

I wouldn’t consider myself to be a competitive person, but I suppose if I was thrown into the Dauntless faction I would quickly learn to be. As a result, Peter would bring out my competitive side for sure in this situation.

While I do not have a book review on Divergent to share, I do have some Divergent inspired nails for fellow fans to enjoy.

twilightFashion Guru – who would be the bestie whose closet you’d want to raid, or would want to go shopping with?

Alice Cullen from Twilight by Stephenie Meyer.

Although, I would probably regret it, haha.

However, I reckon you’d be guaranteed to walk away with bags and bags full of pretty clothes, even if the process of getting them feels long and tiring which makes Alice a good person to shop with. Plus, I bet her wardrobe is incredible too and probably enormous (I mean, it would have to be judging from the amount she appears to like to shop).

Vampire AcademyThe Bad Influence – which character would you want to commit a small act of rebellion with? (Go skinny dipping, sneak into a movie, have a drag race with etc.)

Adrian Ivashkov from the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead.

Honestly, I cannot even remember if he appears in the first book, haha, it has been a while since I read it!

I was kind of torn between a couple of male characters from this series, actually; however, I went with Adrian because he was always my favourite.

city of bonesBlood Brothers- which character would you want to be your surrogate big brother/sister? (You can do both if you want.)

I’m going to go with a big brother and sister here as they kind of go hand in hand anyway.

Alec and Izzy from The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare.

They’re two of my favourite characters and seeing their interactions with Max earlier in the series demonstrates how they are as older siblings. Furthermore, they’re one of the few sibling relationships I’ve read about recently that doesn’t involve one of them mentally or physically (or both) harming the other for which I am grateful for as I love them both.

hpathbpMother Hen – which character would you want to be by your side when you’re having a bad day to cheer you up?

Molly Weasley from Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling.

When her children are upset or feeling down I bet she is such a comforting person to have around and she always seems to know what’s going on (to an extent anyway, I bet Fred and George always kept her on her toes!).

The Counsellor – which character would you go to for relationship advice (or) confide a secret to?

Can I say Molly again?

I mean, in Half-Blood Prince Tonks seems to go to Molly when she needs advice regarding Remus…

clockwork angelMore Than Friends – who would be your book bf/gf? (If you like both genders you can chose one of each, but only one choice per gender.)

Jem or Will?

Will or Jem?

I always struggled to pick over the two of them and the fact that everyone else seems to love Will more actually pushes me further towards Jem.

Jem Carstairs from The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare it is.

That is it for the questions and my, some of those were incredibly hard! Next hard decision is picking a few bloggers to tag:

Thank you again Charley for tagging me and I look forward to seeing everyone else’s responses.

Disney Book Tag.

I’m not going to lie, I was extremely excited to have been tagged to do this, I mean Disney? Books? Count me in! Thank you so much to Whimsy Journals for tagging me.

city of bonesThe Little Mermaid – a character who is out of their element, a fish out of water:

Clary Fray from The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare.

I feel like The Mortal Instruments is a series I can refer to a lot throughout this tag, but I’m going to use now as it was the first thing that jumped into my head.

In the first book, City of Bones, Clary is suddenly thrust into a world of Shadowhunters and demons and the like, so she is most definitely out of her element here.

changers drewCinderella – a character who goes through a major transformation:

Ethan/Drew from Drew (Changers #1) by T. Cooper and Allison Glock-Cooper.

Ethan goes through a transformation both physically and mentally. I mean, he turns until a girl overnight, is that not enough? He/she then finds out that she’s a Changer who transform into different people and this is used as a way to help them understand people as well as discover who they are. Ultimately, being able to change their identity and understand people is supposed to be beneficial for the world, exactly how though we have yet to discover…

I have written a review of this book here though in case you are intrigued and fancy reading more about it.

Snow White – a book with an eclectic cast of characters:

Basically any book by Rick Riordan.

I mean his books each have countless characters. There’s always at least three main characters, each of whose perspective we get to read from, plus we have all of the wonderful Gods and the interesting monsters and the other demi-gods… That’s definitely a great and diverse range of characters right there.

FrankensteinSleeping Beauty – a book that put you to sleep:

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.

I really expected and hoped that I would like this book. My best friend and I even had an inside joke related to Frankenstein, so I really wanted to be able to love this book, but I didn’t.

The writing in this book just bored me so much,it’s highly likely that I did actually fall asleep reading it; however, if you would like to read my review on it, I have it here.

perksThe Lion King – a character who had something traumatic happen to them in childhood:

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.

I end up mentioning this book a lot in book tags because I love it so much that if it applies to a category, I am definitely gong to use it and I’ve mentioned it so much now that it’s just making me want to read it again.

I’m not going to outline what happened to our main character, Charlie, in this book because it is something which is uncovered at the end of it and I therefore do not want to spoil it, but if you’ve read it, you know.

hpatgofBeauty and the Beast – a beast of a book (a big book) that you were intimidated by but found the story to be beautiful:

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling.

Now I know that Order of the Phoenix was bigger, but Goblet of Fire was a massive jump in length after Prisoner of Azkaban and its enormity in my small hands scared me.

In fact, it wasn’t until a few years later that I actually read the book and ever since it has been one of my favourite Harry Potter books (though I probably say that about all of them, haha). Recently, I have also written a review on this book here.

Aladdin – a character that gets their wish granted, for better or worse:

I really cannot think of a single character in a book who has their wish granted… If you can think of anyone let me know in the comments below, haha!

tmohtbiMulan – a character who pretends to be something or someone they’re not:

Bree from The Manifesto on How To Be Interesting by Holly Bourne.

Bree decides that she wants to be, well, more interesting  in order to help aid her writing and the way she tries to do this is by doing what everybody else is doing and being “popular” at school. Needless to say, it doesn’t work out as Bree planned…

This is another book I have written a review for, in fact, this must have been one of my first few reviews which you can read right here.

city of heavenly fireToy Story – a book with characters you wish would come to life:

I’m going to go back to The Mortal Instruments for this one and also combine it with The Infernal Devices, both by Cassandra Clare.

This is because I love all of the characters so much, they are all wonderfully written with unique personalities and we even have more characters to come as this year Clare’s next series featuring the shadowhunter world comes out.

Another reason I chose these books is because the alternative would have to be Harry Potter, which I happen to be saving for the next category.

hpatoofpDisney descendants – your favourite villain or morally ambiguous character:

One of my favourite villains is likely to be Bellatrix Lestrange from Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling.

I don’t know why, but I just love Bellatrix.

It’s also strange because I was devastated when Sirius died and was sad when I found out what had happened to Neville’s parents. I suppose her… insanity, I suppose, just makes her a wonderful villain in the series (aside from the obvious, main villain).

Also, similar to Goblet of Fire, I have a review for all of the Harry Potter books, including Order of the Phoenix, pictured above.

Those are all of the categories and now it is my turn to tag some lovely people. I tag:

Celebrity Book Tag.

I haven’t done a tag for quite a while so when the lovely Pajamareader tagged me to do this book tag, I couldn’t say no; I love book tags! So, let’s get straight into it!

city of bonesEmma Watson – a book with a hot, kick-butt female character:

Isabelle Lightwood from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare.

Hopefully, all of you are aware of this series by now, so it’s not shocking I’ve chosen Izzy.

Have any of you been watching the Shadowhunters series? It may not be the best at the moment, but I am desperately hoping that it will be getting better!

fourRyan Gosling – a book with the hottest male character:

Four from Divergent by Veronica Roth.

Hot male characters are not difficult to find in the world of books, but I’ve chosen to go for Four.

I don’t feel like I speak a lot about Divergent, and this probably isn’t helped by the fact that I never wrote a review about them since I read them long before starting this blog. However, you may recall from a recent post of mine that I want to reread the whole series.

clockwork angelAngelina Jolie and Brad Pitt – a book with your favourite fictional book couple:

Oh, my favourite, that certainly makes things tough. I’m thinking Tessa and Will from The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare.

At least this way I technically am not repeating series as my alternate answer would have been Alec and Magnus from The Mortal Instruments by the same author.

illuminaeShailene Woodley – author you’ve recently discovered and loved:

Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff wrote Illuminae, already one of my favourite books for this year.

Prior to reading this book I had never read anything by either of them and now I definitely want to!

Fortunately, these two authors are also working on more books together because Illuminae is a part of a series and book two is due to be released later this year.

the grownupJosh Hutcherson – favourite short story or novella:

The Grownup by Gillian Flynn.

I love Flynn and everything she has written so this is hardly a shock, plus I haven’t read very many short stories or novellas. This means that I don’t actually have a lot to really compare it too.

I do have a review for The Grownup which you can read here.

hpatgofDwayne Johnson AKA The Rock – favourite Big Book (over 500 pages):

My first thought is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling with 636 pages.

After getting through this book in only four days, when Order of the Phoenix came out it didn’t look so big and scary.

I also have a review for this book (and all the Harry Potter bookshere.

Leonardio DiCaprio – a series with the most upsetting death (NO SPOILERS):

Harry Potter was very upsetting with several character deaths…

FrankensteinKristen Stewart – a book you found boring:

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.

I’m sorry.

eleanor and parkIan Somerhalder and his cat – cutest book on your shelf:

In terms of the story or the front cover? I suppose in many circumstances a cute book will have a cute cover, so I suppose that helps.

I am going to go with Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell.

Who doesn’t love this book, or even this couple?!

Jennifer Lawrence – perfect book or series:

And here is the perfect time to refer you to my Recommendations page because basically everything on there, in my opinion, is perfect.

I am going to tag:
