The Lip Product Tag.

A few weeks ago now I was tagged by the lovely Samantha at Blended to Perfection to do the Lip Product Tag. As you are all probably well aware by now, I love lipsticks and my collection is ever-growing, so I was very happy to have been tagged to do this.

What is your favourite lip balm or treatment?

For someone who cannot leave the house without lipstick, I am terrible at looking after my lips. I haven’t tried that many lip balms, but I do quite like the Maybelline Baby Lips lip balms. I have found that some shades/flavours are more effective that others and it is probably not the best product at treating dry lips, though my favourite is Cherry. However, Clarins do have some lovely moisturising lip products, I especially love their Rouge Eclat lipstick.

What is your favourite eye-catching red?

If we’re talking bright red there can be no other than MAC Russian Red. It’s a gorgeous matte red with a blue undertone and I love it so much. However, if you are looking for a new red, I advise you to check out my post on my favourite red lipsticks which also contains swatches!

Best luxury and drugstore product? Also, best MAC lipstick?

I do not have that many high end lipsticks. In fact, I think my only ones are by Elizabeth Arden and Clarins. Out of these it’s a tricky choice, but I think the best is the Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Moisturising Lipstick and the shade I own is Scarlet.

For drugstore lip product, I personally think the best ones are the Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks from both the Lasting Finish and Matte collection. They are long lasting, beautiful in colour, have a nice scent and don’t dry out my lips.

I only own matte MAC lipsticks. In total I think I have four and I love them all. Because I have already mentioned Russian Red in this tag, I won’t pick that one. I think I will go for Velvet Teddy, a gorgeous nude which basically suits anybody and is perfect for all occasions and all year round.

Most disappointing lip product?

No7 High Shine Lip Crayon. It was really sheer and I found it to be rather drying on my lips, so it was really disappointing, especially after having liked previous No7 lip products I had tried.

Lip liner: yes or no?

Not really, I’m afraid. I know that I probably should sometimes, but I’ve gotten used to applying lipstick without lip liner, so I always forget.

Favourite lipgloss?

I am not a big lipgloss lover. It tends to be really sticky and there is always a 99% chance that my hair will get stuck in it at some point during the day if I’m wearing it. As a result of this, I do not own and haven’t tried many, so I can literally only talk about one lipgloss here and it is by Tanya Burr Cosmetics.

Thank you again Samantha for tagging me, I encourage you all to check out her lovely blog and now it’s my turn to tag a few people:

Review: Even the Dead by Benjamin Black.

Even the Dead“Death is death. There’s always suffering.” – Benjamin Black.

I received a digital copy of this book via NetGalley.

When I requested this book I didn’t realise that it was a part of a series, but the synopsis did intrigue me. Fortunately, I do not think this affected my view on the book because I managed to get through it quite easily without the prior knowledge of other books, therefore it isn’t necessary to have read the previous books which, for me at least, is a good thing.

Even the Dead is the seventh book in the Quirke series, which follows Quirke himself. Quirke is a pathologist and when the body of a man turns up who Quirke and his assistant believe to have had died in suspicious circumstances he must investigate. With the help of Inspector Hackett, Quirke must uncover how this man has died, although this proves tricky when the only witness has disappeared.

March Book Haul.

March Book Haul.jpg

“One must always be careful of books,” said Tessa, “and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.” – Cassandra Clare.

March was a popular month for new book releases, so I couldn’t resist buying a few of them… And a couple of extras. In fact, some of these I were so eager to own and read that I already have reviews up for them.

March Favourites.

March Favourites.jpg

“Is the spring coming?” he said. “What is it like?”…
“It is the sun shining on the rain and the rain falling on the sunshine…” – Frances Hodgson Burnett.

This is such a cliché thing to say at the beginning of a favourites post, but where has the month gone? March is almost over, but it feels like it only just began and January and February weren’t much different either.

Easter Inspired Nail Art.

“Everyone loves New York City for all these different reasons. The culture. The mix of people. The pace. The food. But for me, it’s like one epic Easter egg hunt. You’re always finding these little surprises around every corner.” – Gayle Forman.

Easter is quickly approaching, it gets earlier and earlier every year and is the perfect excuse to gobble up a load of chocolate. In celebration of Easter, I have designed a couple of sets of nails full of Easter eggs, chicks and of course, the Easter Bunny.

Everyday Spring Makeup.

“What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again.” – Suzanne Collins.

In case you haven’t yet noticed, I have been getting very into all things Spring recently. I have changed my blog header, I have created my Spring Makeup Wishlist and I concluded Winter with my Winter Empties.

So far this season I have really been getting into sparkly pink eyeshadows. I have never explored this area of eyeshadow before, I mean I don’t even like the colour pink, but for some reason I have really been loving the light pink eyes recently.

Review: Kindred Spirits by Rainbow Rowell.

“If you broke Elena’s heart, Star Wars would spill out. This was a holy day for her — it was a cosmic event. This was her planets lining up. (Tatooine, Coruscant, Hoth.)” – Rainbow Rowell.

Kindred SpiritsI was completely surprised when I saw this book appear on my Goodreads feed, I had thought I would have been more aware of a new book by Rowell as everything I have read by her previously I have loved.

Despite my surprise, I was really happy that she was releasing this for World Book Day, a day I always greatly enjoyed when I was in primary school. While this is a short story rather than a novel, I was still pleased to pick it up, especially at only £1.

Kindred Spirits is about Elena who decides to queue outside her local cinema, ready for the first showing of the new Star Wars movie. Her experience of queueing doesn’t go as fun as she expects, but nevertheless Kindred Spirits proves to be an enjoyable and entertaining read.
